Speech in the Belly? Hannah Arendt and the Ear of Critical Thought

In a moment of history when the public sphere is in crisis, the necessity of developing an "ear of critical thought” appears necessary. In what way does Hannah Arendt serve to develop a philosophy of listening, and in what way is it integrated in thought as such?

Cecilia Sjöholm is professor of Aesthetics at Södertörn University in Stockholm. Her research interests are focused on issues in aesthetics and psychoanalysis and her latest books include Doing Aesthetics with Arendt; How to See Things (2015, Columbia University Press), Regionality/Mondiality , ed. with Charlotte Bydler  (Södertörn University Press 2014), and Translatability, ed with Sara Arrhenius and Magnus Bergh (Albert Bonniers Publisher 2011).
